Job SummaryCole Valley Christian Schools is seeking God's wisdom as we search for a Christ following, dynamic, and gifted individual to join our incredible staff. The 6th Grade Art Teacher is responsible for providing Christ-centered instruction that supports students’ academic growth, spiritual formation, and personal development. The teacher integrates biblical worldview principles throughout curriculum and classroom culture while fostering a safe, engaging, and respectful learning environment through our core values of grace, truth and love.
DutiesAnd Responsibilities
- Plan and teach engaging lessons and a course of study that aligns with established school curriculum standards.
- Integrate Christ-centered instructional methods and Christian philosophy of education throughout curriculum.
- Plan program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Employ a variety of instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assess the performance of students on a regular basis and provide progress and attendance reports as required.
- Help identify the giftedness or learning challenges of students seeking the assistance of Student Academic Services.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain proper discipline and order in the classroom and on school campus.
- Counsel students when behavioral and academic issues arise.
- Support students’ spiritual growth through prayer, biblical integration, and Christlike mentorship.
- Keeps students, parents and administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies.
- Uphold and model the school’s Statement of Faith, mission, and core values.
- Evidence of a teachable heart, a humble and gentle spirit, and an ability to "correct, rebuke, and encourage" in love.
- A unifier who "makes every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" while working with others to accomplish our mission.
- Excellent communication and relational skills with students and adults.
- Strong desire and demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
- Proven commitment to continuous improvement and helping others grow.
- Demonstrated ability in the gift of classroom teaching which includes the following areas:
- Seamless biblical worldview integration
- Relating to students while holding them accountable
- Engagement strategies that take advantage of multiple classroom settings
- Lesson and unit planning, organization, and calendar management
- Balanced and effective classroom management
- Differentiated instruction to meet different learning styles
- Integration of technology as a tool for student learning
- Ability to navigate Microsoft applications and online tools.
- Art or teaching background.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or major within context area or endorsement preferred.
- State teaching certificate and/or Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) teaching certificate, or ability to obtain preferred.
- Profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have made Him both Savior and Lord as represented in Scripture (John 14:1-27; Ephesians 2:8-22) and accepts without reservation the Statement of Faith of Cole Valley Christian Schools.
- Have a history of faithfully attending and financially supporting a Bible believing church.
- Have a verifiable history of living and modeling Christian character in employee's personal and professional life, serving as a Christian role model first to family and friends and then to students, parents, and fellow faculty and staff members in regard to…
