LOCATION: Silver Trail Elementary
REPORTS TO: Principal or Building Administrator
CALENDAR: 184 days a year
PAY SCALE: $15.95 - 18.79/hr (DOE)

JOB SUMMARY:
The Extended Resource/BIParaprofessional supports the Special Education Teacher in implementing individualized learning strategies to help students reach the academic, behavioral, and personal goals outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Instruction is delivered through individual, small-group, or whole-group settings within both Resource Room and general education environments.
QualificationsEducation:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Educational Requirement (Must meet at least one):
Associate’s degree,
ORTwo years of college (or 32 credit hours, per district standards),
ORPassing score on the Praxis Para Pro Assessment.
Experience &
Skills:Demonstrated experience working effectively with school-age children.
Strong interpersonal and positive public relations skills.
Ability to handle confidential student records with discretion and maintain due process awareness.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed to assist students.
Capability to meet the physical and emotional demands associated with supporting diverse learning and physical needs.
Deliver tailored instructional activities and accommodations under the direction of the Special Education Teacher and related service personnel.
Administer, score, and document diagnostic and achievement assessments as requested by the lead teacher.
Utilize positive reinforcement techniques tailored to each student's unique abilities, interests, and developmental needs.
Supervise and manage student behavior across various school environments, enforcing policies with consistency and empathy.
Assist students with personal care needs, including feeding, dressing, toileting, and mobility/locomotion assistance as necessary.
Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment, including the preparation of instructional displays and learning materials.
Maintain accurate, timely, and organized student records and administrative reporting.
Adhere strictly to district policies, federal/state due process standards, and student privacy laws (FERPA).
Act as a reliable point of contact and offer guidance for substitute teachers assigned to the classroom.
Collaborate constructively with teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff.
Participate actively in department staff meetings, required trainings, and ongoing professional development.
Perform other related duties as assigned by school administration.
