Must-Have:
Experience in Level II NICU and comfort with deliveries and initiating CPAP.
Ability to float between all specialties including ICU, MICU, MS-Tele, and ER.
Comfort with pediatric patients in the ER.
Description:
The department emphasizes quality care in respiratory therapy.
Each therapist performs between 25-28 treatments per 8-hour shift.
Therapists will work with a diverse patient population including NICU, MICU, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
Responsibilities include managing respiratory equipment and performing ABGs (radial or brachial).
Assisting with intubations is required, but independent intubation is not necessary.
There are intensivists, hospitalists, and anesthesia support available 24/7.
A manager and supervisor will be present on each shift to provide guidance and resources.
On days, staff levels consist of 7-9 therapists, reducing to 4-5 f-scheduling is practiced, although flexibility is essential to meet the needs of permanent staff.
Weekend shifts typically involve every other weekend, either night or day shifts.
Holiday rotation may also be required.
Floating throughout the hospital and to sister facilities is expected and may occur mid-shift.
A minimum of 60 minutes' notice will be provided for any floating requirements.
Dress code is clean and professional with any color scrubs permitted.
Orientation typically consists of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor, covering both general and critical care settings.
