American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2.5 years of ED experience, BSN, and multiple certifications including TNCC, with evening and night shift availability.

Requirements
  • Active Idaho () or Compact RN license required — pending licensure not accepted
  • BSN required
  • Minimum 2.5 years of ED experience required; experience in a larger urban hospital setting required
  • Trauma experience preferred
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and ENPC — copies of all active certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
  • Epic EMR experience
  • 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Valid driver's license required for consideration
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — permanent address will be verified prior to profile review
Responsibilities
  • Acute care hospital emergency department setting
  • 45-bed ED including 4 hallway beds, 4 vertical rooms, 1 trauma bay, 1 resuscitation bay, and 1 cardiac room
  • Trauma Level IV, STEMI Level I, Stroke Level II facility currently pursuing Level III Trauma designation and accepting Level III patients
  • Treats an average of 170 patients per day with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5
  • Patient population includes both pediatric and adult patients; common cases include stroke, STEMI, trauma, abdominal pain, and high‑acuity ESI Level I presentations — pediatric patients are stabilized and transferred
  • Common drips include Nicardipine, Propofol, Fentanyl, Norepinephrine, Nitroglycerin, Versed, and Precedex
  • Travelers are not responsible for triage; a separate triage area is in place
  • 4 dedicated psych rooms with 1:1 sitters; holds are intermixed within the ED
  • Space Labs cardiac monitors in use; RNs are required to read and interpret cardiac rhythms
  • EMR:
    Epic
  • 12‑hour evening and night shifts; shift start times include 1330, 1530, and 1930 — AM and PM start times may be mixed within their respective windows but early and late shifts will not be combined back‑to‑back
  • Minimum of 4 Saturday/Sunday shifts per 6‑week period (2 full weekends) required
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Travelers are first to float; may float to sister facility ERs in the area
  • No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
  • Dedicated charge nurse on each shift who does not carry a patient assignment; supported by an Assistant Nurse Manager and Administrative Supervisor
  • CNAs are staffed at a 1:5–9 ratio and perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and wound care (no irrigation); providers perform splinting
  • Respiratory therapy is present 24/7, manages all RT equipment, and performs ABGs and breathing treatments
  • Security is in‑house 24/7 and stationed within the ED
  • RNs, CNAs, and phlebotomy staff share lab draw responsibilities
  • X‑ray and CT are available within the ED; patients are transported to main radiology for overflow unless critical
  • Orientation consists of hospital and Epic orientation followed by 1 shift of unit‑specific orientation on the floor
  • Scrubs should be clean and professional; no specific color requirement
  • Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • No local candidates accepted
