DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring AWHONN fetal monitoring certification and prior L&D circulating experience.
Details- Work in the Women's Services unit of an acute care hospital
- Labor & Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds
- Unit averages approximately 120 births per month
- Circulate in 2 OR suites for C-sections
- Care for laboring patients 32 weeks and greater, elective and medical inductions, stable antepartum patients, postpartum patients, and well newborns
- Follows AWHONN staffing standards with 1:1 ratios in L&D and 1:6 couple care in postpartum
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Uses GE Connect EFM system
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with weekend and holiday coverage based on unit needs
- No call or standby requirements
- Required to float to sister L&D units within approximately 20 minutes of the facility, and may occasionally float as a sitter to Med-Surg or ED
- Staff may not work more than five consecutive shifts
- Charge RN, Resource RN, and House Supervisor are staffed on every shift without patient assignments
- CNAs support the floor 4-5 days and nights per week, with 24/7 unit clerk coverage
- Active RN license ( compact) required
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
- STABLE certification required (must have been taken at least once)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- L&D, postpartum, and circulating experience required
- Triage experience strongly preferred
- Experience titrating drips including Pitocin, magnesium, and occasionally insulin required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Provide direct patient care to laboring, antepartum, postpartum, and newborn patients including circulating for C-sections
- Titrate medications per protocol including Pitocin and magnesium
- OB hospitalist and midwives available 24/7, along with Neonatal NP 24/7 and Neonatologist on call within 15 minutes
- Unit-specific orientation typically 4-6 shifts, customized per traveler
- Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts over the course of the 13-week assignment
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Former permanent employees must wait one year before applying for a travel assignment
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
