American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience in a high-acuity, urban hospital setting and BSN.
Details- Level IV Trauma, STEMI Level I, and Stroke Level II ER with 45 beds including 4 hallway spots, 4 vertical rooms, 1 trauma bay, 1 resuscitation bay, and 1 cardiac room
- Separate triage area (travelers do not triage) and 4 dedicated psych/seclusion rooms with 1:1 sitters
- ER holds are intermixed within the department rather than in a separate holding area
- Average of 170 patients treated per day with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Treats pediatric and adult patients with strokes, STEMIs, trauma, abdominal pain, and high-acuity ESI Level I cases; pediatric patients are stabilized and transferred out
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Support staff includes CNAs (1:5-9 ratio) performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and non-irrigation wound care, in-house 24/7 security, and RTs performing ABGs and breathing treatments
- RNs must read and interpret cardiac monitor telemetry using Space Labs equipment
- X-Ray and CT available in the ER with overflow to main radiology; RNs, CNAs, and phlebotomy staff draw labs
- 12-hour evening and night shifts with varied start times , , ); no block scheduling
- Minimum of 2 weekends (4 Saturdays/Sundays) required in a 6-week period
- Holiday coverage as needed
- No call or standby requirements
- Rarely required to float, but may float to other network ER locations
- Active RN license (Idaho or Compact) required at time of submission
- BSN required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and ENPC
- Minimum 2.5 years of ED experience required, ideally from a larger urban hospital setting
- Trauma experience preferred
- Experience with common ED drips including Nicardipine, Propofol, Fentanyl, Norepinephrine, Nitroglycerin, Versed, and Precedex
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Care for high-acuity patients including stroke, STEMI, trauma, and abdominal pain cases across pediatric and adult populations
- Charge nurse role does not carry a patient assignment; additional support provided by Assistant Nurse Manager and Administrative Supervisor
- At least 1 physician and 1 APP staffed daily, with up to 6 providers on hand at peak times
- One shift of unit-specific orientation following hospital and Epic orientation
- Dress code requires clean, professional scrubs with no specific color requirement
- Facility maintains a 50-mile radius rule; local candidates within this radius will not be considered
- Client may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
