Position: Retail Experience Manager

Retail Experience Manager – in-store role focused on the day-to-day and long-term success of retail staff with an emphasis on customer experience. This position emphasizes recruiting, onboarding, developing, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and education. The Retail Experience Manager will supervise the Retail Sales Associate, or Outfitters, to ensure every customer is outfitted with what they need to get started or continue their journey.

The role is expected to be on the sales floor five days a week. Fleet Feet is a team and a community that promotes running and fitness, and we pride ourselves on putting people first and delivering a unique experience for staff and customers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day and long-term success of retail staff with a focus on customer experience.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, schedule, coach, manage performance, and educate staff.
  • Oversee Retail Sales Associates (Outfitters) to ensure customers are equipped with what they need.
  • Be on the sales floor and actively contribute five days a week.
  • Maintain a positive staff culture and promote Fleet Feet initiatives, activities, and functions.
Qualifications
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Demonstrated leadership with at least 2-3 years of retail experience in a customer-facing sales setting.
  • Proven ability to lead by example, give feedback, and coach in the moment.
  • Experience handling difficult conversations (performance, disciplinary, etc.).
  • Passion for coaching and developing people.
  • Ability to balance employee and business needs.
  • Capable of managing administrative tasks, customer interactions, and a fast-paced environment while staying organized.
  • Professional and timely internal and external communication.
  • Proven track record of developing and training staff.
  • Fosters growth through recognition, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Promotes individual and team performance by setting expectations, delegating, and providing tools and resources.
  • Supports decision-making with staff and customers first in mind.
  • Builds and maintains trust with staff and customers through sound judgment.
  • Responsive, positive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.

  • Communicates professionally with customers and team.
