About the role

Selkirk Sport is looking for a part-time Retail Sales Associate to join our Boise-area retail team.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people and is genuinely excited about pickleball. You’ll help players find the right equipment for their game, build relationships with customers, and create a knowledgeable and welcoming in-store experience.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable learning the details of our products and using that knowledge to make thoughtful recommendations based on each player’s needs.

Pay: $18–$20 per hour
Schedule: Part-time, approximately 25–30 hours per week
Store

Hours:

Monday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
Location: Meridian, Idaho

Broad availability during store hours is important for this role, including Saturdays and other high-traffic periods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welcome customers and create a friendly, engaging retail experience
• Ask questions to understand each player’s needs, experience level, and playing style
• Recommend paddles and other equipment that best fit the individual customer
• Provide product demonstrations and explain key differences between equipment options
• Build strong relationships with players and help customers feel confident in their purchases
• Stay current on Selkirk products, equipment features, and new product releases
• Process sales and payments accurately through the point-of-sale system
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail environment
• Assist with inventory, merchandising, and product displays
• Support store opening and closing responsibilities
• Assist with local events, promotions, and pickleball community activities

Qualifications:

• Genuine interest in pickleball and enthusiasm for learning more about the sport and equipment
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Retail, sales, or other customer-facing experience preferred
• Ability to listen to customer needs and make thoughtful product recommendations
• Friendly, dependable, and comfortable building relationships with customers
• Strong availability across Monday–Saturday store hours
• Ability to learn product specifications and confidently explain them to customers
• Ability to stay organized and work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
• Ability to move and handle merchandise or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs., with assistance or equipment as needed

Preferred:

• Experience playing pickleball
• Familiarity or involvement with the Boise-area pickleball community
• Previous retail or consultative sales experience
• Experience recommending sports equipment or other products based on individual customer needs
