The Sales Manager leads inside sales & customer service operations while also driving revenue growth through other sales activities, trade shows, and customer/vendor-facing events. This role is responsible for team performance, key account development, and expanding market presence while ensuring alignment with Operations on inventory, fulfillment, and pricing execution.
Key Responsibilities- Manage, coach, and develop inside sales representatives & customer service team.
- Set individual and team goals, activity metrics, and performance expectations.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, pipeline reviews, call coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Recruit, onboard, and train department team members.
- Ensure accurate quoting, pricing, and order entry.
- Develop and manage relationships with key and strategic accounts.
- Identify new business opportunities and customer segments.
- Plan, coordinate, and attend industry trade shows, expos, and regional sales events.
- Represent the company professionally at customer meetings and industry functions.
- Coordinate lead capture, follow-up processes, and post-event sales activities.
- Develop sales strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
- Provide market feedback on pricing, product demand, and competitive activity.
- Support new product launches and promotional initiatives.
- Partner with Marketing on event strategy, materials, and lead generation.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to align sales commitments with inventory availability, lead times, and fulfillment capabilities.
- Communicate supply constraints and changes clearly to the sales team and customers.
- Balance revenue growth with operational feasibility and margin goals.
- Track and report on sales performance, pipeline activity, and forecasting.
- Maintain CRM / ERP data accuracy for inside and outside sales activity.
- Analyze conversion rates, account performance, and event ROI.
- 5+ years of sales experience in building materials, construction products, or B2B eCommerce.
- Experience managing inside sales & customer service teams and conducting outside events.
- Experience working with contractors and maintain strong relationships.
- Comfortable representing the company at trade shows.
- Strong leadership, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Willingness to travel for trade shows and industry events.
