Essential Functions Safety- Actively promotes and advocates safety at Western States, ensuring a safe environment for all employees, vendors, and clients.
- Completes Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) prior to any job‑related tasks per WSECO policy.
- Maintains clean and clutter‑free personal work areas.
- Adheres to required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Demonstrates troubleshooting skills on various technology systems.
- Tests and compares data to specifications to determine system functionality.
- Repairs and diagnoses technology system failures within business time‑requirement guidelines.
- Completes complex machine technology system installations, including auxiliary hydraulic system configuration.
- Performs inspections and troubleshooting independently.
- Conducts preventative maintenance and repairs components such as machine guidance, productivity tracking, safety, and on‑machine health systems.
- Troubleshoots and repairs technology systems.
- Displays understanding of various technology systems.
- Understands, tests, and repairs complex electrical systems, including Deutsch and Ampseal connectors, battery voltage systems, and harness repairs.
- Troubleshoots machine software and firmware compatibility.
- Fixes machine networking and ECM communication systems.
- Participates in Western States Equipment Technician Career Development Plan.
- Uses service manuals to address technical issues and perform tasks within technician level abilities.
- Follows parts reusability guidelines.
- Creates service reports for warranty purposes using STW.
- Responds to inquiries promptly to meet client expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned while focusing on technician productivity.
- Skilled in Microsoft products.
- Can obtain job‑related certifications for specialty equipment.
- Knowledgeable of manufacturer software (SIS, ET, Trimble).
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships.
- Consistent attendance and timeliness; can work overtime with limited notice.
- Aligns with Western States’ purpose, vision, and values.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three years equivalent experience in a Caterpillar or similar environment with hydraulic, engine, and powertrain experience.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to obtain DOT Med Card.
- Communicates effectively in English.
- Can stand for long periods, walk, sit, climb stairs, reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, lean, and twist.
- Can work in extreme temperatures and environments.
- Can lift up to 60 lbs following Western States’ Lifting Policy.
- Meets all safety requirements for applicable policies.
