The Transfer Station Lead Driver is responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport materials while serving as the lead driver for transfer station operations. This position provides day-to-day guidance to drivers, promotes safe and efficient work practices, and ensures transportation activities are completed in accordance with company policies, DOT regulations, and operational standards. The Transfer Station Lead Driver works closely with supervisors to maintain productivity, equipment readiness, and exceptional customer service.

• Safely operate commercial vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections.
• Report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Transport materials efficiently while ensuring loads are properly secured and delivered safely.

• Support the daily movement of materials to maintain efficient transfer station operations.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and staging materials as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and safe work practices.
• Provide guidance and support to fellow drivers.
• Communicate operational concerns and improvement opportunities to management.

• Follow and promote all company safety policies.
• Maintain compliance with DOT, OSHA/MSHA, and environmental regulations.
• Identify, report, and help correct unsafe conditions.
• Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and transportation documentation.

• Maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, and team members.
• Complete required logs, inspections, and operational paperwork accurately.
• Communicate route changes, delays, equipment issues, and operational updates promptly.

• Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and equipment.
• Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
• Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and support team members.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, bend, climb, and perform physical job duties as required.

• Previous transfer station, recycling, aggregate, waste, or trucking industry experience.
• Experience in a lead driver or supervisory role.
• OSHA/MSHA training or related safety certifications.
