Under supervision of the Fire Captain, Firefighter - Paramedic accomplishes a variety of duties in the protection of life and property. Participates in the combating, extinguishing and prevention of fires as well as providing emergency medical care, rescue and protection of individuals from hazardous environments. Maintains fire station, grounds, and equipment, participates in fire prevention inspection, fire prevention, and suppression training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides courteous andexpeditiouscustomer service toteam members, the generalpublicand Tribal Citizens whilemaintainingconfidential information.
  • Responds to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardousmaterialssituationsand other emergency/non-emergency calls to protect life and property endangered.
  • Performs all firefighter duties; lays and connects hoses; directs water streams in the control and extinguishing of fires in structures,brushand grass; uses forcible entry tools, bars, hooks, ladders,extinguishersand other equipment.
  • Raises and climbs ladders; ventilates structures;accomplishessalvage operations.
  • Administers emergency medical care to treat patients.
  • Operates a two-way radio to communicate with the communications center.
  • Participates in fire prevention programs and inspections to enforce fire prevention codes and ordinances.
  • Works 48-Hour shifts and overtime;may be recalled or held on duty according to the response needs of the Fire Department.
  • Operates a vehicleobservinglegal and defensive driving practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support theefficientoperation of the department.
  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
    KNOWLEDGE,SKILLSAND ABILITIES (KSA)
    • Principles and practices of fire suppression and prevention.
    • Principles and practices of emergency medical care.
    • Operation and maintenance of firefighting equipment.
    • Safety practices and precautionspertaining to emergency services.
    • Ability tolearnlocal streets, fire alarms, fire hydrants, public and local government buildings, and local hazards.
    • Read and understand departmental policies, rules,regulation sand instructions toinclude:fire prevention & suppression literature and emergency medical care instructions.
    • Communicates clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing, with proper spelling,grammar and punctuation.
    • Analyze situations and adopt a quick,effective and responsible course of action.
    • Basic knowledge of computers and programs to includeMS Office,PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Environmental Safety -Demonstrates pride in the entire facility bymaintaininga clean, safe work environment for guests and co-workers. Consistentlydemonstratespersonal ownership for cleanliness andmaintainingexceptional housekeeping standards within the department,facility and all Tribal owned properties. Consistentlydemonstratesconcern for personal safety and the safety of guests,vendors and other team members byimmediatelyaddressing or reporting all unsafe acts and/or conditions.
    LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
    • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you maybe required to obtain andmaintaina gaming license.
    • Authorized Driver:
      Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.
    Required
    • Completion of California State Fire Marshal Firefighter IAcademy or California State Fire Marshal Firefighter ICertificate.
    • Current AHA CPR Healthcare Provider or equivalent.
    • Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational (CSTI or equivalent).
    • ICS 100-Introduction to IC,ICS 200-Basic IC.
    • IS 700 NIMS:
      An Introduction.
    • Mustfurnishuponinitialemployment with San Manuel Fire Department, proof of successful completion of any California recognized physical ability test (Biddle, CPAT, or any other recognized PAT) within the last twelve (12) months).
    Preferred
    • California State Fire Marshal Fire Fighter II Certification.
    • Fire Control III and Fire Control VII.
    • S 190.
    • Driver/Operator 1A.
    • One (1) year experience as a fire fighter (Career, Volunteer, or PCF).
