The Insurance Construction Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Meridian, MS. This position is responsible for inspecting damaged residential and commercial properties, documenting conditions, and developing detailed restoration and reconstruction estimates in alignment with insurance carrier requirements. Day-to-day tasks include scoping losses, taking measurements and photos, preparing line-item estimates in estimating software, and communicating findings with property owners, adjusters, and internal project teams.
The estimator collaborates closely with production managers and subcontractors to confirm job costs, update estimates as work progresses, and ensure projects remain within budget and scope. The role also involves tracking approvals, following up on open estimates, and maintaining accurate records to support timely job completion and customer satisfaction.
- Strong construction estimating and job costing skills, including experience evaluating structural, finish, and mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and building codes relevant to restoration and reconstruction work.
- Proficiency with estimating and insurance platforms called Xactimate
- Knowledge of water, fire, and mold restoration processes and industry standards is highly beneficial.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with customers, insurance adjusters, and internal teams.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to produce accurate estimates under time constraints.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to job sites as needed.
- Prior experience in construction, restoration, or insurance adjusting and a high school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or related degree is a plus.
