Primary Purpose

Tutors in our primary school program support scholars in reaching their full potential. Tutors will work with scholars in grades Third through Fifth Grade Levels, providing individualized and small group instruction in math, reading and blended learning. Tutors help scholars become independent learners of reading and mathematics by assisting with the development of their critical thinking skills and elevating their confidence and ability to solve math problems on their own.

Positions that are a Charter School Growth Fund grant are not guaranteed to be available beyond Spring 2027.

  • Individualized and/or Small Group Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging and effective lesson plans tailored to address each student's specific needs and learning styles in math and reading.
  • Skill Development: Utilize a variety of instructional methods to improve students' foundational skills in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular assessments to track student progress and adjust tutoring plans accordingly.

    Collaboration:

    Collaborate with teachers, PYP deans, and Curriculum and Instructional Specialists to ensure a cohesive learning experience for each student.
  • Positive Learning Environment: Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that motivates students and builds their confidence.
Qualifications

Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)

  • Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred; may substitute equivalent work experience for degree preference.
  • Experience Requirements: Previous work with children preferred but not required.

    Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Technology: Basic use of Microsoft Suite, i.e., Teams, Word, PPT

Physical Demands: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook). Ability to use basic office equipment. The ability to learn and use other software, as necessary. Compensation and Hours

Starting pay: $19.80/hr

Hours: 8am-4pm
