Position Summary
The Instructional Designer plays a critical role in developing and enhancing high-quality academic courses in alignment with Hallmark University’s mission, learning outcomes, and instructional framework. This role involves leading new course builds, redesigning existing courses, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and collaborating with academic leadership, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Program Coordinators to ensure instructional rigor, usability, and effective assessment. The specialists also contribute to faculty development by creating training materials and modules.
EssentialResponsibilities Quality of Course Design
- Lead the design and implementation of new and revised courses in multiple delivery formats.
- Apply instructional design best practices, including the use of Bloom’s Taxonomy, the ADDIE model, and Quality Matters standards.
- Integrate multimedia, authentic assessments, and the Hallmark Character Program into course design.
- Ensure learning outcomes and assessments are clearly aligned and traceable throughout course content.
- Demonstrate responsiveness to feedback and new educational research.
- Leverage instructional technology effectively to support student engagement and success.
- Collaborate with Deans, SMEs, and Course Designers to align program and course outcomes.
- Support project management tasks including session start coordination, course corrections, and master course list maintenance.
- Provide leadership in resolving course design challenges and implementing scalable solutions.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication across departments to support smooth course delivery.
- Contribute to instructional design team initiatives, training, and processing documentation.
- Support the development of faculty training modules and instructional resources.
- Align contributions with Hallmark University’s educational model and mission.
- Make meaningful and frequent contributions to team improvement initiatives, ensuring measurable impact on instructional quality and team efficiency.
- Has excellent decision-making abilities and takes the initiative to ensure projects adhere to deadlines
- Determines the learner’s needs and evaluates outcomes to meet best practices
- Acts with urgency and takes ownership
- Integrates technology and champions new technology
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate interdepartmentally, lead teams, and drive results
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills, as well as the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to troubleshoot, critically evaluate, and make educational design decisions
- Understanding of Bloom’s Taxonomy, educational pedagogy, grading rubrics, ADDIE model, and Quality Matters Rubrics
- Strong team player with demonstrated ability to forge supportive partnerships within and between departments
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Information Technology, Communication Media, Educational Technology/Instructional Technology, Education or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in course creation, design, or teaching in a multi-delivery format, especially Online Higher Education.
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology/Instructional Technology, Education or related field
- Experience in Learning Management Systems
- Technologically adapted with instructional software and familiar with Microsoft Office products
- Continuing professional development
- Attend informational webinars and potential conferences.
