Job Summary:
This position provides administrative, academic, and operational support for the Department of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies by coordinating graduate program administration, student success initiatives, recruitment and outreach activities, departmental communications, event planning, and strategic projects. The Academic Operations Coordinator serves as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, alumni, and university partners to support efficient departmental operations, enhance student engagement, and advance the department's enrollment, retention, and programmatic goals.
This position also supports departmental administrative processes, reporting activities, and operational initiatives to ensure effective service to students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
Job Description:
Coordinate academic, administrative, and operational activities for the Department of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies.
Support graduate program administration, including admissions, enrollment management, student progression, and related academic processes.
Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective, admitted, and currently enrolled students, providing information and support related to departmental programs and university processes.
Coordinate student success, recruitment, retention, outreach, and engagement initiatives that support departmental enrollment and programmatic goals.
Develop and maintain communications with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders through departmental communications, marketing, and outreach efforts.
Coordinate personnel-related processes, including hiring, onboarding, appointments, contracts, and compensation actions for adjunct instructors, graduate assistants, student employees, and other departmental personnel.
Support departmental financial operations, including budget monitoring, account reconciliations, purchasing, travel reimbursement, financial reporting, and compliance with university policies and procedures.
Maintain departmental records and support data collection, assessment, reporting, accreditation, and strategic planning activities.
Coordinate departmental events, meetings, workshops, conferences, recognition programs, and other special initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between the department and university offices, external partners, alumni, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Coordinate and support departmental projects and strategic initiatives to advance departmental priorities and improve operational effectiveness.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Substitution Statement:
An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
