Rolls Royce Motor Cars seeks a Senior Control System Engineer to design, program, and optimize advanced automation for ultra luxury vehicle manufacturing in Goodwood. You'll lead PLC/HMI and motion control development, integrate sensors and safety systems, and drive process stability, quality, and OEE. Partnering with craftspeople and cross functional teams, you'll support commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while upholding rigorous safety and craftsmanship standards in a precision driven, collaborative environment with BMW Group career opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize control systems for ultra luxury vehicle manufacturing lines and test rigs
- Program and validate PLCs, motion controllers, HMIs, and related automation hardware/software
- Integrate sensors, actuators, and safety systems to ensure reliable, precise, and compliant operation
- Analyze production data to improve process stability, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex control and automation issues
- Collaborate with cross functional engineering, quality, and production teams to deliver new models and upgrades
- Create and maintain control system documentation, standards, and change control records
- Support commissioning, acceptance testing, and continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor
Required Skills
- PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell or similar)
- HMI/SCADA development
- Industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP)
- Motion control and servo systems
- Industrial robotics and automation integration
- Control system design and architecture
- Electrical schematics and panel design
- Safety systems and functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508)
- Data acquisition and OEE/production analytics
- Commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of automation systems
