Forklift Operator

Summary:

Operate the forklift to perform various material handling duties.

• Prior to signing out equipment - performs operations and safety check, including brakes, battery and lift controls.
• Signs out equipment by documenting the pre-operational checklist.
• Operate forklift and other power equipment that they have been trained on.
• Replenish slots from product overflow to their assigned aisles.
• Report to front dock to stock incoming freight.
• Clean and maintain their assigned aisles.
• Separate empty pallets from their areas and maintain acceptable stacking height.
• Maintain a clean, safe and orderly workplace.

Other duties may be assigned.

GSC provides on the job training

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Ability to add and subtract two- digit numbers

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions

Must be trained and certified on each piece of equipment

• Satisfactory work record and attendance.
• Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly.
• Ability to take instruction from supervisor and get along with co-workers.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
