Job Title
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Navy Security Forces Training
Duties
Serve as the resident SME and resource person in the instructional areas of law enforcement, evidence, terrorism, laws of arrest, search and seizure, basic criminology, etc.
Prepare course material for Navy Security Forces (NSF) training objectives.
Develop and submit recommendations to the Training Supervisor or other leadership personnel on course content additions, revisions, deletions, etc.
Provide classroom studies and instruction on practical use of law enforcement equipment and techniques.
Requirements Conditions of Employment
Must be a US Citizen.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
This is a bargaining unit position.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1. Knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property
2. Teaching course curriculum in specialized and technical instructional areas related to Navy Security Forces (NSF) training objectives
3. Coordinating with other instructors to maintain and develop course material ensuring improvements to teaching methods are continuously made (
