Job Description & How to Apply Below

Our client is seeking a Fiber Design Technician (remote position - must be located in the United States and will be working Central Time hours) to support the planning, design, and documentation of outside plant (OSP) fiber optic networks. This position plays a key role in supporting network expansion, customer service delivery, and ongoing maintenance by producing accurate fiber designs, maintaining system records, and collaborating with engineering, construction, and operations teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience with OSP fiber network design, splice documentation, and fiber record management while thriving in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Design and document fiber routes, splice layouts, and handhole placements for service requests, network expansions, and maintenance projects. Create, update, and maintain fiber splice records, fiber utilization documentation, and FDP port assignments within Network Manager and Arkis. Research existing fiber assets to determine route feasibility and fiber availability for new services and network growth. Review construction drawings and as-built documentation to ensure compliance with engineering standards.

Prepare and maintain fiber design drawings, splice schematics, and supporting documentation. Coordinate with engineering, construction, splicing, and maintenance teams to resolve design challenges and support service restoration efforts. Perform ongoing data validation and record cleanup to maintain the integrity of fiber network documentation. Respond to routine and time-sensitive operational requests. Meet production goals and project deadlines in a high-volume work environment.

Participate in a daytime on-call rotation. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Expectations

The successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining accurate fiber network records. You enjoy collaborating with multiple departments, can prioritize competing requests, and are comfortable working in a deadline-driven telecommunications environment.
