Maintenance Specialist

Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs commercial buildings systems, fixtures and equipment, including (MEP) mechanical HVAC, electrical and plumbing. Supports safe, reliable facility operations by performing preventative maintenance, completing on-demand requests, emergency callout, contractor coordination and other general construction and maintenance related activities.

Supports safe, reliable facility operations by performing preventative maintenance, completing on-demand requests, emergency callout, contractor coordination and other general construction and maintenance related activities.

Job Requirements
  • Vocational / Technical Education - Broad technical experience in the operation, repair and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Universal refrigerant certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial building systems and equipment, including a variety of HVAC systems and controls, pumps, valves, motors, compressors, ice machines, electrical systems, backup generators, electric gate operators, low-voltage wiring, plumbing, etc.
  • Technical knowledge and training across various trades, and the skillset to self-perform tasks such as HVAC, electrical and plumbing installation and repairs.
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance, general construction, and facilities operations.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors and skilled trades to complete maintenance tasks and project assignments.
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes, standards and guidelines, including, EPA, ASHRAE, OSHA, ADA, NEC and NFPA requirements.
Other Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in the safe use of common and specialized hand and power tools, test equipment, and welding or brazing equipment, as applicable.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective oral, written, and digital communication skills, including email and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively to complete assignments.
  • Demonstrates safe work habits and consistently performs work with a safety-first mindset.
Other Requirements
  • Due to the nature of the work performed and the equipment used in this position, the successful candidate must be able to:
  • Lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Perform work assignments indoors and outdoors in varying climates and weather conditions while using required tools, equipment, ladders, lifts, and personal protective equipment.
  • Use safe work practices at all times.
  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle. A CDL is not required, and commercial motor vehicle certification is not required before employment.
  • Successfully complete the CAST pre-employment test. Candidates who meet the screening criteria will receive registration instructions by email.
  • Be available for emergency callouts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Respond to building emergencies and support disaster preparation and recovery activities.
