We're seeking an expert in data transformation and analytics engineering to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our data pipelines using dbt Cloud in a Snowflake environment. You will be instrumental in building a modern, scalable, and reliable data platform.
Required Qualifications- Location: Preference for hybrid (Meridian, Idaho campus and WFH). Potential for fully remote in a mutually acceptable location.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience (two years' relevant work experience equals one year of college).
- Experience: 2-4+ years in data or analytics engineering, preferably in healthcare.
- 2-3+ years of extensive dbt experience (Jinja macros, packages, custom tests).
- Hands‑on experience with dbt Cloud (project setup, environment management, job orchestration).
- Proven experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake preferred).
- Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- Strong understanding of data modeling principles (e.g., Kimball, Data Vault).
- Experience with Python scripting for automation.
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.
- Experience leveraging AI‑powered assistants (e.g., Claude Code, dbt Copilot, Cursor) to automate documentation, testing, and model scaffolding.
- Experience implementing AI‑enhanced workflows to streamline development and increase velocity.
- dbt Certification (e.g., dbt Analytics Engineering Certification).
Build and maintain a robust dbt project using a layered approach (staging, intermediate, marts).
Data Pipeline ImplementationBuild and maintain optimized ELT/ETL pipelines in Snowflake using dbt, focusing on performance tuning and materialization strategies.
Automation and CI/CDImplement and manage CI/CD pipelines for dbt using native features or integrations like Git Hub Actions.
Testing and Data Quality- Develop a comprehensive testing strategy using built‑in and custom tests.
- Leverage external integrations for data observability (e.g., Metaplane) and quality monitoring.
- Apply dbt lineage features to visualize dependencies via the DAG.
- Enrich models with metadata and documentation using schema.yml.
- Collaborate with analysts, scientists, and business partners to translate requirements into technical models.
- Provide technical leadership, participate in code reviews, and mentor team members.
Monitor and optimize project performance in Snowflake, including cost management and query execution.
Advanced Features and EcosystemStay current with new dbt features (e.g., Semantic Layer) and modern data stack tools.
Compensation and BenefitsPay Range: $96,183 – $144,275 (Engineer II) or $118,506 – $177,758 (EngineerIII). Eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
