Operations Manager
Nexus 5 Group is seeking an experienced
Estimator / Preconstruction Manager to establish, lead, and execute our preconstruction function. As Nexus 5’s first dedicated estimator, this role will initiate the estimating process from initial opportunity through project handoff and set the standards, systems, and discipline for how we price work, manage risk, and protect profitability.
This is a high-impact leadership role that blends hands‑on estimating with strategic preconstruction oversight. You will serve as the bridge between business development, operations, and project execution—ensuring clarity, alignment, and margin protection from day one.

Key Responsibilities- Lead all estimating and preconstruction efforts from opportunity through turnover
- Develop and implement standardized estimating processes and systems
- Prepare conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and value engineering solutions
- Identify scope gaps, risk exposures, and cost drivers early in the process
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners
- Strengthen subcontractor relationships and ensure strong bid coverage
- Partner closely with operations to ensure smooth project transitions
- Protect company margins through disciplined cost analysis and risk management
- Day-to-day field execution
- Construction productivity issues not tied to estimating assumptions
- Subcontractor performance failures unrelated to scope definition
- 7+ years of commercial construction estimating and/or preconstruction experience
- Strong background in tenant improvement (TI) and renovation work
- Deep understanding of CSI divisions and trade scopes
- Experience working directly with owners, architects, and engineers
- Proficiency in estimating and preconstruction software
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills
- Thinks like an owner and prioritizes margin protection
- Comfortable building systems and processes from scratch
- Balances speed with accuracy under tight deadlines
- Collaborative with operations—not adversarial
- Trusted by leadership to make sound judgment calls

Compensation*: $85,000 - $115,000
Final agreed‑upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
