Position: Charge Nurse Cardiac Care Full Time Nights

Job Overview

Full‑time Night shift position at Advent Health, 9100 W74TH
ST, Shawnee Mission, Kansas

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care across departments including PACU, inpatient units, Radiology, and anesthesia.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and medical orders.
  • Monitor patient progress, continuously assess and document outcomes, and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  • Manage daily schedules, organize and oversee the endoscopy schedule, and ensure appropriate staffing and equipment availability.
  • Prioritize patient needs based on acuity and urgency, ensuring timely and efficient care.
  • Serve as a resource for staff regarding procedures, equipment, and patient care, providing guidance and support.
  • Facilitate effective communication among healthcare team members to promote continuity of care.
  • Supervise and direct activities of nursing assistants and support staff, ensuring adherence to care standards and evaluating performance.
  • Educate patients and families about care plans, treatments, and health management to promote self‑care and disease management.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, providing immediate care and stabilizing patients.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to maintain high standards of patient care and efficient operation of the unit.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plans of care.
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Windows based programs.
  • Experience in supervising and caring for nursing assistants and support staff.
  • Current RN license and knowledge of nursing care requirements for all patients on the unit.
  • Ability to identify problems, implement solutions, and communicate effectively.
  • Participation in project teams/committees and ability to complete projects with consideration for quality, practice, and educational components.
  • Strong clinical skills and the ability to manage patient assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Effective oral and written communication in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Strong leadership, conflict resolution, organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, integrity, respect, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Maturity, judgment, and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Experience in acute care hospital settings; 1+year.
  • Preferred certifications: APRN, BLS, CCNS, CHEMO, CNOR, S.T.A.B.L.E., CTFM, CET, ENPC, NRP, OCN, TNCC, NEONATAL MED.
  • Knowledge of oncology, critical care, and peri‑operative nursing.
License & Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – required.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) – preferred.
  • Basic Life Support – BLS – required.
  • Additional certifications as listed above.

Pay Range

$33.70 – $62.69 per hour.
