The Universal Banker supports both consumer and business clients by addressing business needs, identifying financial opportunities, and delivering tailored solutions that foster long‑term relationships and branch growth.
- Provide friendly, accurate service for everyday banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, wires, and foreign currency exchanges.
- Opening, closing, and maintaining consumer and business accounts, including ownership and beneficiary updates.
- Engage in meaningful financial conversations to uncover client goals and recommend products and services that align with their needs.
- Guide customers through the mobile and digital banking experience, ensuring they feel supported and confident using technology.
- Educate customers on digital tools such as mobile deposits, account alerts, and e‑statements.
- Issue debit cards and assist with mobile wallet setup, travel notices, and ATM locator tools.
- Navigate business customers through digital banking solutions like positive pay, ACH, mobile deposit, remote deposit capture and business credit cards.
- Lead moderately complex banking interactions such as credit card support, IRA servicing, and business account setup.
- Proactively onboard and follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and uncover opportunities to strengthen long‑term relationships.
- Monitor suspicious activity and apply fraud detection procedures, escalating concerns promptly and appropriately.
- Collaborate with the branch team to uphold audit and operational standards, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
- Drive growth through consultative engagement, cross‑selling, and qualified referrals across digital and in‑person channels.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and support branch initiatives.
- Represent the bank at community events and participate in strategic projects.
This is a regular full‑time, hourly non‑exempt position, averaging approximately 40 hours/week. Schedule may vary between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:30 pm CDT Monday through Friday and 9 am to 12 pm CDT on Saturdays.
This position will work on‑site at our branch location in Merrill, WI.

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in a client‑centric banking role, encompassing both transactional and consultative responsibilities.
- Completion of specialized programs (e.g., Personal Banker School) within the first year of employment is highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency in analysis, mathematics, and clear communication skills.
- Proven ability to build trust and deliver tailored, high‑quality service.
- Strong awareness of risk and compliance, supported by hands‑on experience in fraud prevention.
- Technologically adept and adaptable in dynamic, fast‑paced environments.
- A collaborative mindset with demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to team success.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and digital banking platforms.
