Nurse Practitioner
Marshfield Clinic – Merrill Center is seeking an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Merrill, Wisconsin. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant is a skilled member of the health team who provides medical and educational services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician, according to Nurse Practitioner Protocol, and within the scope of the Nurse Practitioner License in the State of Wisconsin.
In this role, you will join a busy practice with an experienced group. Our Merrill Center has a strong primary‑care presence in the community with a variety of outreach. Onsite radiology, lab collection, mobile mammography, bone density, ultrasound, and echo are available. You will take call once every three months on the weekend from home.
Job Summary- Provide advanced nursing care to adult patients with acute, chronic, and complex medical conditions.
- Perform assessments, diagnoses, develop and implement treatment plans, and manage patient care.
- Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD, heart disease, and other internal medicine conditions.
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and screenings.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies in accordance with state laws and organizational policies.
- Provide patient education on disease prevention, health promotion, and management of chronic conditions.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress and response to treatment, adjusting plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
- Document all patient encounters, treatments, and progress notes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with evidence‑based practices in internal medicine.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and organizational standards for patient care.
- Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, a master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
- Experience in an internal medicine or related adult primary care setting is preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
- Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
- State Controlled Substance License (if required by State).
- National board certification as a Family (FNP‑BC) or (FNP‑C), Adult‑Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP‑BC) or (A‑GNP), Adult (ANP‑C), with additional certifications (e.g., Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care, Acute Care Adult) requiring approval from a market executive leader.
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on the privilege form.
