Job Summary
Manage the project engineering and detailed design phase and manage engineering services during the project life cycle for designated projects within the Generation Electric Projects & Construction organization. Apply engineering project management including initiation, conceptual engineering, planning, detailed design, drawing submittal, constructability reviews, change control, product testing, acceptance and transition to internal customers. Ensure optimal product performance and integrated project objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Promote safe working environment and integrate safety into project scope.
- Develop engineered product scope, decompose into constructible project scope, and ensure alignment with WBS and controls.
- Ensure product quality through contractor and AE performance; apply engineering standards and best practices.
- Manage risk, project schedule, cost, and quality; coordinate internal/external stakeholders.
- Utilize project management tools, techniques and information systems to control engineering performance.
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate work activities of others within team or external partners.
- Manage outside engineering firm to maintain scope, schedule, cost, quality.
- Coordinate review of project documents and drawings with stakeholders.
- Provide cost‑effective solutions, resolve issues, and develop RFI logs.
- Work flexible schedule, including overtime as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from a four‑year ABET‑accredited institution.
- Minimum 10years of engineering experience in a utility‑based environment.
- Proficient in engineering/technical theories and principles, basic research practices on technical design issues, and risk evaluation.
- Strong written and oral communication and ability to work with diverse teams.
- Leadership experience, ability to lead and mentor project engineers.
- Knowledge of project management principles and PMI/PMBOK standards.
- Advanced knowledge of Fossil Power, Hydro Power and/or Renewables processes.
- Experience with Electric Transmission and Distribution Systems and at a generating station preferred.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license (DL NUMBER). Physical demands: ability to climb, work in adverse conditions, travel.
