Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Project Manager – Power Generation Construction to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in leading the development, construction, commissioning, and commercial operation of large‑scale natural gas‑fired power generation projects, including simple‑cycle combustion turbines and combined‑cycle power plants. You will collaborate with engineering teams, EPC contractors, OEMs, regulatory agencies, utility stakeholders, and executive leadership to deliver complex capital projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all phases of utility‑scale power generation project execution from development through commercial operation date (COD).
- Manage EPC contractors, OEMs, engineering partners, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Establish and maintain project scope, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and execution strategies for projects ranging from $300MM to $1B+.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities across multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee site construction activities including civil works, turbine installation, HRSG erection, electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls.
- Monitor contractor productivity, safety performance, quality metrics, and project milestones.
- Support commissioning, startup, synchronization, performance testing, and operational handoff activities.
- Manage EPC and OEM contracts, change orders, claims, disputes, and commercial negotiations.
- Track project schedules, critical path activities, contingencies, and cost forecasts in partnership with project controls teams.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulatory requirements, OSHA standards, and applicable industry codes.
- Develop and present project updates, executive reports, and stakeholder communications.
- Foster a strong safety culture and champion zero‑incident project execution.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, or heavy industrial construction projects.
- 7+ years of experience managing large‑scale EPC projects valued at $100MM or greater.
- Experience leading gas turbine, combustion turbine, or combined‑cycle power generation projects.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, risk mitigation plans, and contractor performance.
- Knowledge of gas system design, construction practices, contracts, and emergency response procedures.
- Understanding of local, state, and federal construction and operating codes.
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Power Point
- Construction scheduling software
- Project management and reporting tools
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification.
- Experience with:
- Combined‑cycle power plants (1x1, 2x1, or 3x1 configurations)
- Combustion turbine generator (CTG) facilities
- Combined‑cycle gas turbine (CCGT) facilities
- HRSG systems and thermodynamic cycles
- High‑voltage electrical systems and grid interconnections
- Utility‑scale generation assets
- Familiarity with OEM platforms including GE, Siemens, and Mitsubishi.
- Working knowledge of operations support systems and utility infrastructure technologies.
- Location: Onsite – Valparaiso, Indiana
- Travel: 30–40% travel to project and construction sites
- Engagement Type: Contract‑to‑Hire
- Project Duration: July 2026 through April 2027
- Combination of office‑based and active construction site environments.
