Job Summary
Manage the project engineering and detailed design phase and oversee engineering services throughout the project life cycle for designated projects within the Generation Electric Projects & Construction organization. Apply engineering project management during the project life cycle including project initiation, conceptual engineering, engineering planning, detailed design and drawing submittal, constructability reviews, change control, product testing and acceptance, and transition of the product or service to the internal customer.
Ensure optimum product performance, product scope definition, and integration of best engineering practices and industry standards into specifications. Apply effective product risk management and maintain engineering contractor / Architectural Engineer performance. Utilize engineering standards and best practices to ensure optimum NIPSCO rate of return. Integrate and manage internal and external stakeholders, operations, AE's, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure project success and communicate relevant engineering status to the project management team and stakeholders.

- Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within the work group, team, department, corporate entity, or those external to the company as required to perform all routine engineering work.

- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Coordinates the development of input necessary to establish projected cost of all projects.
- Keeps abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures and equipment.
- Consistently looks for opportunities and presents new ideas and approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and lead other project engineers as needed within the organization.
- Utilizes PMI and PMBOK standards to ensure project execution is aligned with the group’s project management guidelines and processes.
- Works closely with the Project Manager and project controls team to manage various aspects of the project’s schedule and cost.
- Manages the outside engineering firm to ensure scope, schedule, cost, and quality is maintained at all times.
- Coordinates and reviews all relevant project documents and drawings with internal stakeholders.
- Works with engineering firms to provide engineering solutions that meet the project’s goals and objectives while adhering to the financial goals of the Company and maintaining projects within budgetary constraints.
- Work a flexible schedule, including overtime, as needed to meet project goals and objectives.
- Provides cost‑effective solutions and follows through to resolve issues as they arise.
- Develops and maintains applicable project Request for Information (RFI) logs.
- Bachelor’s Degree Graduate from a four‑year ABET accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 10+ years minimum of engineering experience in a utility‑based environment.
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to plan safety into a comprehensive work scope and/or plan.
- Ability to work in adverse conditions, including climbing to elevated platforms and in all weather conditions.
- Proficient in coordinating, leading, and facilitating meetings effectively.
- Ability to travel to support project goals and objectives.
