A client of Insight Global is seeking a Drafter to support industrial engineering projects across the steel, paper, rubber, and oil & gas industries. This role will focus on equipment drafting and the creation of dimensional and alignment-based reports for industrial facilities and piping systems. Unlike traditional Civil 3D positions, this opportunity is not centered around grading, site development, or topographic surface modeling.
Instead, the Drafter will develop detailed drawings and technical documentation utilizing reference baselines, dimensions, perpendicular relationships, and skewed alignments. The position is primarily office-based and involves creating and updating CAD drawings, interpreting engineering and field data, and supporting project deliverables. The selected candidate will work closely with a team of one other drafter, five engineers, and four project managers to deliver accurate and high-quality project documentation.
Experience in industrial environments and a strong foundation in drafting principles are highly valued for success in this role.
- Create and modify detailed CAD drawings for industrial equipment, piping systems, and facility layouts.
- Develop dimensional and alignment-based reports using reference baselines, dimensions, perpendicular measurements, and skewed alignments.
- Interpret engineering data, field measurements, and client requirements to produce accurate technical documentation.
- Collaborate with drafters, engineers, and project managers to support projects within the steel, paper, rubber, and oil & gas industries.
- Review and update drawings, reports, and project documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with project standards.
- Support equipment installation and facility improvement projects through drafting, report generation, and occasional site visits as needed
