We are seeking a full-time Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Engineer
to join our growing team in Merrillville, IN

- Design, develop, and implement industrial control, instrumentation, and safety systems.
- Perform all aspects of automation projects, including design, engineering, programming, commissioning, and post-commissioning support.
- Develop and modify engineering drawings using AutoCAD or similar tools (electrical schematics, panel layouts, P&IDs).
- Specify and select field instrumentation, control system hardware, and electrical components.
- Create and update engineering documentation and technical specifications.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary engineering projects as the instrumentation and controls representative, coordinating with other engineering disciplines throughout project execution.
- Lead and support system installation, field testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (NFPA, ISA, NEC, etc.).
- Participate in project estimation, proposal development, and client site assessments.
- Strong knowledge of PLC, DCS, HMI, SCADA, and PAC systems, with emphasis on Rockwell and/or Siemens Automation.
- Proficiency with electrical schematics, control panel design, and P&t.
- Experience with industrial instrumentation, control valves, and process analyzers.
- Understanding of process and combustion safety principles.
- Working knowledge of industrial networking, OT cybersecurity, and network architecture.
- Hands-on experience with AC/DC variable frequency drives (VFDs) such as Allen-Bradley Power Flex and Siemens SINAMICS.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (UL, CE, IEC, ISA, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Leadership potential with the ability to manage an automation team in the future.
- Willingness to travel 20–40% across the U.S. and Canada (valid driver’s license required).
- College degree in Electrical, Controls, or Instrumentation Engineering (or related).
- 8+ years of experience in Automation Engineering.
- 3+ years of AutoCAD electrical design experience.
- P.E. license.
- Experience leading automation project teams or engineering groups.
- Proven success in commissioning and troubleshooting automation systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) and Siemens control systems.
- Experience in heavy industry or manufacturing environments, particularly in the steel or metals sector.
