Our client, a leading utility and energy provider, is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a large-scale wireless network refresh project. This role requires strong expertise in Cisco networking and enterprise wireless technologies, along with the ability to coordinate across technical and business teams. You’ll play a critical part in assessing current infrastructure, guiding wireless design, ensuring accurate implementation, and verifying operational readiness.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Conduct site-by-site assessments of existing wireless networks to gather accurate current-state data
- Compare current wireless infrastructure against documentation to define scope and identify gaps
- Review Cisco switch configurations and assess scalability for wireless expansion
- Collect, validate, and organize floor plans to support wireless design and planning
- Collaborate with installation and configuration teams to align deployment with design standards
- Monitor implementation progress to ensure timely delivery and adherence to schedules
- Perform post-implementation reviews to validate network operability and performance
- Ensure complete removal of outdated equipment and confirm replacements match design specs
- Validate operational status and configuration of all access points (APs)
- Update and maintain support documentation, including floor plans, inventories, and references
- Track milestones and deliverables to ensure timely execution
- Coordinate with IT, facilities, and vendors to align project activities
- Maintain project documentation such as schedules, notes, and status reports
- Assist in identifying and mitigating risks that could impact project outcomes
- 3+ years of experience in wireless networking, preferably enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of Cisco networking equipment and wireless technologies
- Hands-on experience with wireless site surveys and tools such as Ekahau
- Proficiency with network documentation and diagramming tools
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including log analysis and configuration optimization
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Experience with F5 version upgrades or migrations
- Knowledge of cloud integrations (AWS, Azure) with F5 services
- Background in high-availability enterprise environments with load balancing
