Neurosurgery Physician Assistant

Methodist Hospitals is seeking an Indiana‑licensed Physician Assistant to join our Neuroscience Institute at the Southlake Campus in Merrillville, Indiana. In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to neurosurgery patients in a physician office practice, working closely with neurosurgeons and a multidisciplinary care team in a highly respected, growing program. The successful candidate will:

• Perform complete physical exams, identifying abnormalities and changes, documenting findings in patient charts and relaying pertinent information to the physician.
• Identify patients’ educational needs, then design and implement comprehensive education plans for those patients.
• Assist in identifying potential areas of program development, developing strategic implementation plan, identifying, implementing and coordinating program development objectives from the clinical and nursing perspective, continuous monitoring and implementation of the most efficient and effective patient care systems, designing and implementing of clinical research and quality improvement projects.
• Provide leadership and direction for the program and office staff and mentor office staff.
• Complete hospital rounds as required.
• Assess patients in inpatient and outpatient settings - obtaining history, performing complete physical exams, chart documentation.
• Triage emergent consultations during business hours when surgeon is unavailable.
• Position offers opportunities to assist with neurosurgical and endovascular procedures, if desired.

Candidates must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant training program and have a healthcare‑related Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university. An Indiana Physician Assistant license is also required. Two years of previous neurosurgery or neurology physician assistant experience is preferred.
