SCHEDULE: 8 Hours
QUALIFICATIONS- Must have a current online application on file with the Corporation,
- High school diploma; A.S.E. certification preferred with a minimum of three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience,
- Background in diesel engine maintenance.
- Must possess a valid Indiana drivers license and/orwilling to obtain a CDL-A license
- Able to operate all equipment currently in use in the transportation department,
- Computer literate to include the use of Microsoft office products,
- Proven experience in maintaining school buses, both chassis and body
- Knowledge of school bus standards and school bus inspection requirements,
- Must have a demonstrated positive work attitude and verifiable interactions with other employees,
- Review transportation repairs and assignments with the Director of Transportation,
- Keeps and maintains all related records for all preformed service and work,
- Models and practices safe work habits,
- Assist in the maintenance of parts and supply inventory,
- Assign bus repairs to the Class II mechanics,
- Monitor fuel levels in holding tanks and order fuel when necessary,
- Perform mandatory State monthly fuel tank leakage reports,
- Performs inspections per Indiana State Police guidelines for vehicles licensed to transport students,
- Assists other mechanics and maintains a harmonious relationship with drivers and other corporation employees,
- Performs system repairs on brakes, transmissions, electric systems, cooling systems, and carburetion systems on all vehicles normally maintained by the transportation department,
- Completes appropriate work orders for transportation building(s) maintenance,
- Maintains preventative maintenance schedules for school bus fleet and notifies drivers of scheduled maintenance needs,
- Work with the Director of Transportation in the development of topics for the yearly driver orientation meeting,
- Records and file bus maintenance work orders in a timely manner,
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
