Tax Manager

Locations: 9 Executive Park Drive, Ste 100, Merrimack, NH, 03054, US (Hybrid)

• Demonstrates thorough technical knowledge of accounting standards and reporting standards in researching, completing, and reviewing technical areas.
• Identifies tax risk management issues and proposes potential solutions through research and collaboration with Engagement Partner
• Reviews tax procedures, engagement work papers and financial statements without supervision
• Completes thorough review of tax work papers on a timely basis and assures audit evidence is in accordance with firm’s documentation standards
• Addresses questions on advanced technical accounting matters from team members and upper-level client management
• Prepares advanced level tax returns and reviews intermediate to advanced level tax returns
• Monitors that tasks are assigned and completed on a timely basis and reviews workflow
• Oversees Seniors and Staff while coordinating the day-to-day duties of planning, tax work, and wrap-up
• Manages multiple assignments inside an engagement
• Communicates with Partners on work status and client issues that arise
• Conducts research, consults with team members, draws conclusions, and prepares memos based on target issues
• Contains advanced knowledge of applicable accounting software (e.g. CCH Axcess, Engagement, Go File Room , etc.)
• Leads small to medium sized engagements with finalized document and report requiring minimal change upon review
• Performs top review of returns, work papers, and issues
• Acts as primary client contact and liaison for complex issues that staff are unable to resolve; communicates effectively with clients and develop positive relationships with client personnel
• Supervises, trains and mentors tax staff
• Stays current on technical and industry developments and standards while evaluating potential impacts on their client engagements

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field
• Bachelor’s degree with a preference of study in Accounting or related field
• 5+ years’ of relevant work and industry experience
• Prior experience managing engagements and clients
• Ability to work independently, but also work well with others
• Strong technical and broad based advisory and client management skills.

• 5 years of experience in public accounting or related field
• 3 years supervisory experience
• Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
• Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
• Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
• Proficient use of applicable technology
