Paving Inspector

Job Overview

WSP is a leading engineering firm that helps communities improve infrastructure. We are searching for a Senior Paving Construction Inspector to oversee urban and rural pavement rehabilitation and preservation projects valued between $1–$25 million. The role can be based out of Portland, Augusta, or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH.

• Interfacing with contractors and attending meetings.
• Mentoring or supervising other inspectors on behalf of the resident engineer or project manager.
• Completing daily reports and measuring/calculating unit price quantities.
• Coordinating independent material sampling and testing.
• Monitoring maintenance of traffic.
• Photographing daily progress and compiling documentation.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct in accordance with WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

• High School Diploma.
• 7 years applicable experience.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
• Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Associate of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Average proficiency with MS Word.
• NETTCP HMA certifications or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring.
• Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD, or similar systems; knowledge of Bluebeam.
• Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will also be considered.
