Supervisor of Trade Theory Training Instructors for the Naval Shipyard Institute (NSI)

ORBIS is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team. This role requires a proactive leader who can ensure the successful delivery of training programs, fostering the development of skilled professionals within the naval shipyard.

Duties Include:

  • ORBIS liaison with shipyard or other Trade Theory Training (TTT) location staff.
  • Oversee and coordinate the delivery of on-the-job training using mock-ups, simulators, and demonstrations (shipboard or shop-based).
  • Ensure that instructors effectively communicate operations, material requirements, and safety protocols to trainees.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of instructors and provide guidance to enhance training effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with trade experts to update training materials and methodologies as needed.

Required

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage a diverse team of instructors.
  • Ability to develop and implement training strategies that align with industry standards and shipyard requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration between instructors and other departments.
  • Familiarity with the technical aspects of at least one trade, such as electrical systems, machining, or welding processes, is advantageous.
  • Experience in supervising and coordinating training programs.
  • 10 years of direct experience in at least one of the trades being supervised in the NSI program (Marine Electrician, Machinist, Marine Machinist, Welder).
  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Eligible for a secret security clearance.
