Senior Principal Engineer - EO​/IR Systems - BAE Systems

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and integrate EO/IR sensor hardware and software to meet stringent warfighter performance requirements.
• Lead algorithm design for image enhancement, target detection, and signal processing using C++ and Python.
• Conduct system modeling, simulation, and trade‑off analyses to optimize optical, mechanical, and electronic subsystems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including optics, mechanical, and software groups—to ensure seamless system integration and verification.
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical direction for complex engineering challenges.

• 10+ years of experience in electro‑optical or infrared system design and development.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python for real‑time image processing and algorithm implementation.
• Strong background in signal processing, optics, and sensor fusion techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage full system life‑cycle from concept to fielding.
• Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or related field preferred.
