Mechanical Engineer
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Merrimack, NH for a temporary contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Mechanical Engineer will support structural and thermal analysis for circuit card assemblies, electronic chassis structures, and related mechanical hardware. This role requires NASTRAN experience, structural analysis capability, thermal modeling experience, and the ability to independently execute analysis tasks, document results, and provide design recommendations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Structural and thermal analysis experience with mechanical components or electronic hardware.
- NASTRAN experience for structural analysis.
- Ability to perform vibration, shock, static, and fatigue analyses.
- Ability to perform thermal modeling and assessments.
- Experience with random vibration, shock, fatigue, and static loading analyses.
- Ability to independently execute analysis tasks and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly document and present technical results.
- Strong communication skills for interfacing with design teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Preferred Skills
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with circuit card assemblies and electronic chassis structures.
- Experience with Icepak for CCA thermal analysis.
- Experience using Simcenter 3D for system-level structural and thermal modeling.
- Exposure to pressure drop or coolant flow analysis, including cold plates.
- Experience analyzing solder joint reliability, including low-cycle and high-cycle fatigue.
- Acoustic loading analysis experience.
- System-level analysis experience for electronic assemblies.
- Thermal and flow analysis experience for cooling solutions.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural and thermal analysis for mechanical components and electronic hardware.
- Support analysis of circuit card assemblies and chassis structures.
- Perform structural, vibration, shock, fatigue, static, and thermal assessments.
- Generate analysis models to support design teams.
- Document analysis results and present technical findings.
- Provide design recommendations based on analysis results.
- Support system-level structural and thermal modeling.
- Evaluate loading conditions, reliability concerns, and cooling-related design factors.
- Work independently with minimal oversight while coordinating with design teams.
Work Schedule / Shift
- 1st shift.
- Monday–Friday.
- 9/80 schedule.
- Typical hours are 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Overtime expected as needed.
- No travel required.
Pay
- $63.50/hour
