Compensation: $31.33/hour - $42.60/hour (Trainee Status: $30.02/hour)
Position SummaryProvide professional engineering supervision of the Bureau of Highway Maintenance’s asset management program, including development, tracking, and reporting on assets such as pavement, culverts, guardrail, ITS/RWIS, lighting, park‑n‑rides, buildings, and surplus property. Coordinate with internal and external groups relative to the Department’s asset management goals.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution. - Experience:
Four years post‑baccalaureate experience in civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering. - OR
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution. - Experience:
Six years post‑baccalaureate experience in civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering. - OR
Education:
Associate’s degree in engineering or engineering technology from an accredited institution. - Experience:
Six years experience in civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering at a level equivalent to Civil Engineer I or higher, plus two additional years as an Engineering Technician. - Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil, Civil Highway, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with MS Access, GIS, and CAD database/program analysis and management.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Develop and document the Highway Maintenance Asset Management program in accordance with Department guidelines.
- Oversee tracking, reporting, and communication of all aspects of the program to management and stakeholders.
- Evaluate, plan, implement, and monitor the program for efficiency and recommend changes.
- Analyze data and produce reports reflecting the past, current, and future status of the program.
- Conduct field reconnaissance to assess assets for maintenance, rehabilitation, or replacement needs.
- Obtain and assemble asset condition data and work plans from other Bureaus; prioritize and coordinate the work plan.
- Plan, analyze, and evaluate computer programs (GIS/ESRI or other platforms) supporting the program.
- Coordinate training for staff and vendors to ensure accurate data entry into the program.
- Participate in or chair Department asset management task forces or committees.
- Study, recommend, and present solutions to challenges in program development.
Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet minimum standards. Post‑hire requirement: obtain NH Professional Engineer license within 12 months.
