Senior Financial Analyst (IV)

The Senior Financial Analyst (IV), under the direction of the Director of Finance, will compile and verify the data used for the preparation and presentation of results of projects and programs, along with the business area, to senior management. The Analyst will be the key person to monitor the financial performance of multiple projects and programs.

Responsibilities
  • Own financial performance analysis for assigned programs, including full lifecycle program P&L, cost control, and margin accountability across multiple contract types (fixed price and time & material).
  • Lead development, analysis, and submission of Estimates at Completion (EACs), ensuring alignment with program performance, cost inputs, and revenue recognition requirements.
  • Drive variance analysis and reporting, providing clear insights on actuals vs. plan/forecast, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain program financial forecasts, integrating inputs from Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations to ensure accuracy and accountability.
  • Partner closely with Integrated Program Teams (IPTs) to provide real‑time financial guidance, influence decision-making, and improve program financial outcomes.
  • Analyze program risks and opportunities, translating operational and technical inputs into financial impacts, and incorporating them into forecasts and EACs.
  • Maintain/Develop program financial reporting packages, including dashboards and presentations for leadership review, working with the Power BI lead.
  • Ensure integrity of program financial data, including validation of labor, material, and other cost inputs used in EACs and forecasts.
  • Manage Time & Material (T&M) financial processes, including invoicing, revenue accruals, and reconciliation of billed vs. incurred costs.
  • Partner with Accounting to resolve program‑related financial issues, including overaged accounts receivable, unbilled receivables, contract asset/liability reconciliations, cash advances, and inventory variances, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong cash flow performance.
  • Establish and execute revenue recognition methodologies in compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606) and internal policy, including alignment with EAC outcomes.
  • Ensure accurate monthly close activities, including preparation of accruals, reconciliation of program financials, and alignment with accounting records.
  • Provide audit support and maintain compliance, including preparation of supporting documentation for EACs, revenue recognition, and cost transactions.
  • Support contract financial management, including interpretation of contract structure, pricing mechanisms, and financial implications of change orders or modifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement of program finance processes, tools, and controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Partner with Business Development and Engineering to develop proposal pricing, including cost builds, margin analysis, and financial risk assessment to support competitive and executable bids.
  • Act as a key financial interface with customers, supporting program reviews, financial discussions, and issue resolution while ensuring alignment on contract terms, billing, and program financial performance.
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and seven (7) to ten (10) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experienced with computerized financial systems, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, opportunities, and root causes.
  • Strong understanding of program finance, cost accounting, and project profitability analysis.
  • Expertise in Estimate at Completion (EAC) development, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition principles (e.g., ASC 606) and contract financial structures.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) for financial reporting and presentations.
