Job OverviewResponsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of facility systems and equipment. This role supports a safe, reliable, and efficient work environment by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on building infrastructure, utilities, mechanical and electrical systems, and other critical facility assets. The technician works closely with engineering, operations, contractors, and maintenance teams to ensure facility systems meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and building systems.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and utility systems.
- Monitor facility performance and respond to equipment alarms and emergency maintenance requests.
- Support the operation of building management systems (BMS).
- Maintain boilers, chillers, air compressors, pumps, generators, water treatment systems, and other critical infrastructure as applicable.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for system improvements.
- Document maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment history.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors performing maintenance or construction activities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety policies.
- Participate in emergency response activities and after-hours support as required.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts.
- Serves as the technical lead for facility and utility systems, providing enhanced troubleshooting and recommendations to improve system reliability, efficiency and performance.
- Coordinates equipment installations, and contractor/vendor activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
- Mentors and trains less senior technicians and establishes best practices.
- Associate degree or technical certification in Facilities Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Two or more years of experience in facility maintenance, industrial maintenance, building engineering, or a related technical role.
- EPA Section 608 Certification preferred.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance certifications preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.
- Knowledge of NFPA and OSHA standards.
- Experience with building management systems (BMS).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, testing instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
