Job Overview
The High Income and Alternatives Technology team is looking for a hardworking, highly motivated Principal Software Engineer with strong understanding of programming fundamentals and software design. Prior development experience in the investment management domain will be a strong plus.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will develop quality software components that are used by Portfolio Managers and Analysts in managing over $100 billion in High Yield, Credit Alternatives, and Systematic Investment Research Funds. You will engage, shape, and contribute to Alphabet, our flagship portfolio construction platform. In addition to building software, you will help define and implement development practices, standards, and strategies across multiple teams.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a quantitative or computational field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics.
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience building complex software solutions, preferably working with investment management professionals.
- Ability to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders including researchers, portfolio managers, and technology partners.
- Full‑stack software development knowledge, preferably with Angular, Java, and Spring Boot.
- Experience with testing software, including writing automated unit, integration, performance, and end‑to‑end tests.
- Favor Agile development practices that prioritize incremental delivery of working software and respond well to changing requirements.
- Ability to accept and adapt to scope changes, incorporating them seamlessly.
- Understanding of fixed‑income instruments, security analytics, investment workflow, and functioning of bond markets is a significant plus.
- Experience with AWS cloud environment development and deployment is a plus.
- Kubernetes/EKS deployment and operations management exposure is a plus.
- Progress towards CFA program certification is a significant plus.
- Experience leading development teams through mentorship, technical expertise, and technical excellence.
