This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. The team supports Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance.

Job Description
Blue Origin is looking for qualified and motivated individuals to join the team of strong Manufacturing Engineers supporting the Blue Origin Lunar Permanence business unit and the development and production of Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon Lunar Lander product lines. To further Blue Origin s mission of millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

The focus of this Manufacturing Engineering role is to lead and support the shop floor manufacturing execution of the Blue Moon Mark 1 (MK1) Lunar Lander. This role includes supporting build execution, translating engineering definition into manufacturing work instructions, managing manufacturing bills of material, and processing build non-conformances.

  • Shifts Available: A Shift: Monday – Thursday (5:00am - 3:30pm); B Shift: Monday – Thursday (3:00pm - 1:30am); C Shift: Friday – Sunday (5:00am - 5:30pm); D Shift: Friday – Sunday (5:00pm - 5:30am)

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with technicians and flight hardware to safely and efficiently progress shop floor production activities.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions to clearly define manufacturing assembly and installation processes according to released design engineering requirements.
  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods and tooling to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.
  • Support non-conformance repair and rework activities.
  • Perform in-build redlines and recommend engineering changes to improve design producibility.
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role: (0-3 years Level 1 Manufacturing Engineer, 3+ years Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, 8+ years Sr Manufacturing Engineer)
  • Demonstrated ownership in your area of responsibility.
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, automotive or similar.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to support scheduled work shift (we may rotate shifts occasionally) and work off-shift (2nd or 3rd shifts), extended hours, and weekends as required.
  • Physically able to support production floor activities, climb stairs, work in small areas, and lift and carry 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or other relevant fields) from an accredited university.
  • Experience identifying tooling needs for production system.
  • Proficient in writing work instructions at a high pace.
  • Previous experience using Jules, Windchill, and Creo software.
