Description

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Principal Energetic Engineer/Sr. Principal Energetic Engineer – Level 3 or Level 4 to join our team in Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, FL. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

This position is for an engineer working on Thrust Vector Control system processing for NASA’s Space Launch System Solid Rocket Booster flight vehicle. This will include complete refurbishment, assembly, and dynamic/static acceptance testing of aerospace components. This role also involves preventative maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting potential problems to resolution of the test and production support equipment.

This position will work a 4/10 schedule, with every Friday off.

As demand grows, we can anticipate scheduled Friday workdays, the possibility of rotating shifts, and the need for overtime.

In this job, you will:
  • Generate/update electronic planning for both hardware refurbishment, testing and production support equipment maintenance.
  • Performing component acceptance testing and troubleshooting, when necessary, along with operations team.
  • Evaluate test data to ensure characteristics fall within established specifications. Maintain records of testing results.
  • Disposition non-conforming material/components through Material Review Board (MRB) process.
  • Supporting all phases of refurbishment process which includes disassembly, inspection, cleaning, assembly, and dynamic acceptance tests.
  • Supporting all phases of TVC system assembly which includes module sub-assemblies, system level assembly
  • Other duties as assigned

This position can be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4.

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
  • Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional/relevant experience – OR – Approved STEM Master’s degree with 3 years of professional/relevant experience – OR – Approved STEM PhD with 1 year of professional/relevant experience.
  • No clearance required to start
  • Experience with hydraulic systems and component processing.
  • Strong communication skills in terms of presentations and writing detailed technical reports.
  • Able to read and interpret component drawings, hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Must be able to work overtime/weekends and/or second shift work schedule.

  • Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional/relevant experience – OR – Approved STEM Master’s degree with 6 years of professional/relevant experience – OR – Approved STEM PhD with 4 years of professional/relevant experience.
  • No clearance required to start
  • Experience with hydraulic systems and component processing.
  • Strong communication skills in terms of presentations and writing detailed technical reports.
  • Able to read and interpret component drawings, hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Must be able to work overtime/weekends and/or second shift work schedule.

  • National Instruments (NI) controls and data acquisition systems
  • Labview
  • Background in industrial machinery

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
