Job Description & How to Apply Below

Blue Origin is developing reusable, safe, and low‑cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. The company encourages people to join its team of problem solvers to add new chapters to the history of spaceflight.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low‑Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human‑capable.

As the Director of Customer Integration on New Glenn’s Customer and Payload Accommodations team, you will manage a technical team through design, development, and integration of customer hardware on New Glenn’s Second Stage (GS2). The GS2 is the largest and most capable upper stage ever developed and uses the largest commercial fairing available. Coupled with the reusable first stage, it provides New Glenn customers with unprecedented payload launch capabilities.

This position will support all aspects of program management to include cost, schedule, technical design, and risk management while working with Blue Origin internal organizations and suppliers to develop and deliver qualified systems.

You will be the interface between the New Glenn (NG) engineering team, mission management, and external customers, sharing in the team’s impact on all aspects of NG launch vehicle development. We seek an individual who brings technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality to advance safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct trade studies and estimates in support of proposals for external‑facing customer technical projects.
  • Work closely with the engineering design team, mission management, launch operations, and launch systems groups to ensure the successful integration of payload requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact between the NG engineering team and mission integration for various launch contracts.
  • Interface with payload customers to evaluate mission unique requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Integrate customer requirements and develop mission Interface Control Documents.
  • Ensure payload system requirements are validated and implemented with the technical teams.
  • Interface with internal and external customers through the mission integration phase, and ensure customer expectations have been met.
  • Manage requests from multiple complex projects and teams.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements, such as FAA, ITAR, and range, have been met.
  • Support Business Development interactions with external customers leading to mission integration and launch contracts.
  • Lead spacecraft integration and launch contracts ensuring Blue Origin commitments are met on time, on budget, and with success.
  • Integrate customer requirements into New Glenn development and launch services.
  • Brief leadership during payload‑to‑launch vehicle integration meetings and mission readiness reviews.
  • Participate in proposal and contract development by estimating labor hours, material costs, and qualification efforts for new hardware development.
  • Lead an engineering team through hardware development and integration activities during active launch campaigns.
  • Develop resource‑loaded mission Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and coordinate progress with internal and external customers.
  • Report status updates to leadership, and maintain an open line of communication with customers, mission management, and other interfacing groups.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering‑related field, with 8+ years of complex product development experience.
  • 5+ years managing complex, multi‑disciplinary, fast‑paced aerospace projects.
  • 10+ years industry experience in launch system or satellite operations.
