Position: Systems/Human Factors Engineer at Abbtech Merritt Island, FL

Job Summary

Systems/Human Factors Engineer — Merritt Island, FL.

This position supports the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) project, the design and construction of a launch platform for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) at Kennedy Space Center. The engineer will interface with other engineering disciplines and the client, applying systems engineering and human‑factor principles to meet program requirements.

Eligibility
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for this position.
  • Applicants must achieve Engineer‑In‑Training certification within 12 months of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Establish means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare system and facility design criteria documents.
  • Document and process human‑factor findings.
  • Perform walk‑downs of hardware to verify human‑factor requirements are properly implemented.
  • Review design products for implementation of human‑factor principles.
  • Assess hardware against established human‑factor requirements.
  • Support system‑level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification, and requirements flow‑down and traceability.
  • Perform impact analyses for proposed requirement changes.
  • Perform assessments to validate and verify implementation and traceability of requirements into design.
  • Participate in technical discussions to resolve system design issues.
  • Research and document system operations and limits from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement, teamwork, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Participate in and foster a work environment based on openness, trust, communication, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Job Knowledge
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory codes and standards, and design criteria relevant to systems engineering and human‑factor discipline.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or another engineering field from an accredited university or college with at least nine years of relevant technical experience, or in lieu of a degree, 15 or more years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Ability to obtain Engineer‑In‑Training certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any security clearances required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Awareness of national codes and standards, environmental regulations, and their influence on design.
  • Experience facilitating multi‑discipline meetings to resolve technical and related requirements compliance issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Construction site familiarity.
  • Familiarity with implementation of requirements in design.
  • Experience in performing design and/or requirements change impact analysis.
  • Experience with MIL STD 1472G DOD Design Criteria Standard – Human Engineering.
  • Experience with HF‑STD‑001 FAA Human Factors Design Standard.
Position Details

Pay Rate / Range: $39.86 - $86.19
