Position: Senior Engineer - New Glenn 7x2 Program Lead

Responsibilities

  • Metrics and Reporting
    • Develop and track program KPIs
    • Work with program leaders to drive schedule and KPI adherence
    • Develop and implement KPI recovery plans
    • Report regularly to senior leadership
  • 7x2 Production Support
    • Contribute to the end‑to‑end technical approach for 7x2 production readiness and launch rate increase, from design and configuration control through manufacturing, test, and launch operations.
    • Support design‑for‑manufacturability, design‑for‑test, and design‑for‑maintainability improvements on key subsystems to reduce touch labor, cycle time, and rework.
    • Help document and maintain the production 7x2 technical baseline, including clear build standards and allowable configuration variances for high‑rate operations.
  • Launch Rate & Throughput Improvement
    • Partner with production, launch operations, and supply chain teams to identify technical constraints that limit launch cadence (e.g., inspection, test, refurbishment, configuration changes) and support closure of these constraints.
    • Develop and apply data‑driven analyses that support throughput improvements (e.g., test simplification, modularization, hardware reuse strategies, streamlined acceptance criteria).
    • Participate in multi‑disciplinary trade studies to balance launch rate, cost, risk, and performance, and prepare inputs and recommendations for program and chief engineering leadership.
  • System Integration & Problem Solving
    • Act as an integrator across vehicle, ground systems, and operations teams to help ensure assumptions and interfaces remain aligned and stable for production.
    • Support technical root cause and corrective action investigations for issues that impact production yield, turnaround time, or launch readiness.
    • Contribute to assessing whether reliability, maintainability, and operability targets for 7x2 hardware support the desired launch manifest and fleet strategy.
  • Process, Tooling, and Configuration Maturity
    • Assist in defining and maturing production test strategies, qualification/acceptance requirements, and inspection plans that are compatible with higher launch rates.
    • Provide engineering input to tooling, automation, and factory layout decisions to reduce cycle time and increase repeatability while preserving safety and product integrity.
    • Support configuration management, change control, and BOM structure improvements to enable efficient planning, MRP, and build execution for 7x2 at scale.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Mentorship
    • Collaborate closely with leaders and engineers across disciplines (mechanical, systems, manufacturing, test, launch ops) working on 7x2 production and operations.
    • Represent the 7x2 production and launch‑rate perspective in design reviews, change control boards, and launch readiness reviews; clearly communicate technical risks and operational impacts within your area of responsibility.
    • Work with the finance, program, and operations team to track, review, and improve cost targets.
    • Help maintain strong feedback loops between Florida launch site teams and Kent‑based engineering teams by capturing, communicating, and tracking production and launch‑site learnings into design and process updates.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, systems engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, or similarly complex aerospace systems, including exposure to manufacturing and/or flight operations.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to cross‑functional technical efforts that span design, manufacturing, test, and/or operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing program management processes.
  • Proven experience helping resolve system‑level issues that impact production throughput, reliability, or operational tempo.
  • Strong ability to interpret data from production and test environments and convert it into clear, actionable engineering inputs.
  • Effective, executive‑level written and verbal communication skills, with experience working across stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience in high‑rate production environments (launch vehicles, aircraft,…
