About the Role

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. It is a mid‑career engineer position within the vehicle Avionics team for a lunar spacecraft. The role supports hands‑on work with hardware in development and flight labs, with a primary focus on integration and test of the hardware on the flight vehicle builds in Florida.

Responsibilities
  • Lead subsystem‑level test activities related to vehicle avionics systems, including electrical power, compute and network, and RF communications subsystems.
  • Develop and manage requirements for avionics subsystems, including traceability and verification planning using industry‑standard tools and processes.
  • Plan and execute development, verification, and validation work in laboratory and production environments.
  • Integrate avionics interfaces with other vehicle subsystems such as GNC, power, propulsion, and mechanical systems.
  • Support long‑lead hardware identification and procurement planning to meet launch targets, including procurement of test equipment for subsystem verification.
  • Apply engineering and business judgment to ensure efficient and effective product design, manufacturing, procurement, testing, qualification, and delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum BS Degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related Engineering field.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in relevant areas of engineering operations.
  • Experience with subsystem test in the lab and vehicle build environments, including hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing/Design for Test core principles.
  • Avionics hardware component assembly and test experience.
  • Avionics hardware and software integration experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in the relevant disciplines.
  • 8+ years of industry technical experience involving system formulation, research and development, and/or operations applied to spacecraft systems and environments.
  • Experience with human‑rated spacecraft systems and safety‑critical design processes for crewed missions.
  • Strong team leadership and people management skills.
  • Requirements management experience including familiarity with requirements management tools and aerospace standards.
  • Scripting, programming, and analysis skills (TCL, Python, Linux shell, Windows batch scripting, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, HSPICE, HFSS or similar).
  • Spacecraft avionics hardware environmental test experience including radiation, vibration, and thermal testing.
  • Experience coordinating cross‑organizational efforts with multiple engineering teams and external organizations.
  • Ability to execute in a dynamic, fast‑paced, driven work environment.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive, professional relationships.
