Systems Engineer
Overview
Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Export Control RequirementDue to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Responsibilities- Act as the focal point for special projects related to space hardware and launch processing.
- Coordinate inputs and outputs to Launch Operations for internal and externally facing initiatives.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure successful processing of space hardware for unique and highly ambiguous projects involving launch vehicles, satellite dispensers, and payloads.
- Provide technical leadership, guiding testing requirements, assembly/integration work‑cell design, facility and equipment planning, integration and test application implementation, process control, design for manufacturability, project management, and tooling design.
- Serve as the Launch Operations liaison for external vendor relationships and as a point of contact for Launch Provider, Dispenser provider, and Payload Processing Facility leadership.
- Collaboratively challenge assumptions and requirements from other departments, such as dynamics, thermal analysis, design engineering, and tooling engineering.
- Leverage extensive experience in space hardware integration and test, focusing on satellite-to‑dispenser and/or launch vehicle integration.
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience.
- 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams.
- 3+ years of software development experience.
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams.
- Experience managing programs across cross‑functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules.
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management.
- Experience managing projects across cross‑functional teams, building sustainable processes, and coordinating release schedules.
- Experience defining KPIs/SLA’s used to drive multi‑million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership.
